Coming soon: an 8-week, step-by-step program for busy people who want to lose weight by walking, without running or living in the gym.
Walking was the backbone of how I lost 50 pounds as a busy dad. A weighted vest is the simplest way I know to get more out of every walk. This program puts it all together: exactly how far to walk, how much weight to wear each week, and the simple habits that make it stick.
Who It’s For
- Beginners who want a clear plan instead of guessing
- Busy parents and working adults with 30–45 minutes a day
- Anyone who wants to lose weight without running or high-impact workouts
- People who own a weighted vest (or are thinking about getting one) and aren’t sure how to use it
What’s Inside
- An 8-week walking plan: minutes and vest weight for every week, with rest days built in
- How to pick your starting weight: start light and build up safely
- Two 20-minute home strength workouts a week: no gym needed
- Simple nutrition: hand-portion meals, protein targets, and a busy-week grocery list
- Printable trackers: weekly check-ins, a weight-trend tracker, and a habit calendar
- Troubleshooting: sore knees or back, plateaus, and what to do after a bad week

Questions
Do I need a weighted vest?
You can start the first weeks without one. After that, an adjustable vest makes the program work best. The one I use and recommend for beginners is the ZELUS. See my best weighted vests guide.
How much time does it take?
Most weeks are 3–5 walks of 30–45 minutes, plus two 20-minute strength sessions at home.
Is this safe for me?
The program starts light and builds slowly. I’m a nutrition coach, not a doctor, so if you have joint, heart, back or bone concerns, check with your doctor before starting. More in my guide: Is a Weighted Vest Safe?.
