About Me — Brett Patterson
Hi, I’m Brett Patterson — a 40-year-old high school Social Studies teacher, husband, and dad of four from Arlington, Texas. I lost 50 pounds in 6 months without a personal trainer or a gym membership. This site is the guide I wish I’d had when I started.

Although I did complete a certification in Nutrition Coaching, I’m not a certified nutritionist or personal trainer. What I am is a real person who went from a blood pressure of 150/95 and gasping up two flights of stairs, to the healthiest I’ve been since my college baseball days — and I documented everything along the way.

About Me: Why I Started Me-Fitter
From age 15 to 25, I was a two-sport athlete — baseball and basketball. I thought being in shape was in my DNA. I was wrong.
After getting married in 2008 and having four kids over the next decade, I slowly let everything slide. Poor food choices, almost no exercise, and terrible sleep became my normal. Then came the wake-up call: my blood pressure hit 150/95. I was winded walking up two flights of stairs. Running to first base in a recreational softball game left me utterly exhausted at 38 years old.
That was the moment I decided to change — not just for myself, but for my wife and four kids who need a healthy, present dad. I threw myself into learning everything I could about nutrition, exercise, sleep, and weight loss. I became obsessed with figuring out what actually works for a regular person with a busy job, family responsibilities, and no time to spend three hours in the gym. Here are the YouTube Channels that helped me along the way.
About Me: How I Lost 50 Pounds — The Real Story
I didn’t follow a fad diet. I didn’t buy expensive supplements. Here’s what actually worked:
- Understanding caloric deficit — learning that weight loss is fundamentally about energy balance changed everything. I stopped guessing and started tracking.
- Prioritizing protein — once I understood how protein affects hunger and muscle preservation, I stopped feeling deprived on a caloric deficit.
- Home workouts with simple equipment — I built a consistent routine with adjustable dumbbells and resistance bands. No gym required.
- Fixing my sleep — I was a chronic 5-hour sleeper. Extending to 7-8 hours made a measurable difference in my hunger levels and daily energy.
- Walking more — Zone 2 cardio (essentially walking with intention) became my secret weapon for fat loss without burning out.
Six months later: 50 pounds gone, blood pressure normalized, and I can run the bases in softball without feeling like I’m dying.

What I can promise is this: every piece of advice on Me-Fitter is something I’ve either tried myself or researched thoroughly enough that I’d recommend it to my own family. No fluff, no hype — just what works.
